Tough Week for Everything

Full Moon plus winds from the North/Northwest adds up to a tough week.

Walleye: When the weather cooperated catches west of the pier were good early week. Trolling with stick baits and wiggle warts still productive. Off Cranberry Creek in 25 to 30 spotty. Castle in 30 ft with worm harnesses reported fair to good.

Perch: Same problem. Weather really hurt the fishing. Prognosis for this week end is difficult with the water dirty and the issue of getting minnows. Full moon gives the bait guys fits as minnows are hard to catch. But for those that are going out, start east of the pier off the first water tower in about 25ft of water. Nothing there go further to Old Woman’s Creek 28ft. Keep going east to Cranberry Creek and the Castle in to 28 to 35 ft.

Minnow availability will be difficult. Try frozen bait if you can get it.

Good luck and good fishing

Original post blogged on Fish Huron Ohio.

Perch:
Fishing was good to great depending on the location. North east of the green can, 30 ft of water was good. Due north of water tower on the east side of Huron in 27 ft limits were being caught as of this morning. 25 ft off the Castle good reports and the old honey hole off the Plantation Motel in 22 ft was good.

Walleye: Still the night bite continues to be productive in close on the west side of the pier in the 12 - 22 ft range. Also good during the day but stay closer to the 18 to 24 fr area. Off Cranberry Creek some good catches were reported in 24 ft of water. Most of the reports are from trollers pulling silver and orange shaded stick baits though wiggle warts in black and gold were doing well also.

Watch for bass reports coming very soon.

Get ready for the Fall Walleye Challenge coming in Oct. Watch the website for more info.

Good fishing.

Original post blogged on Fish Huron Ohio.

has produced fish in the mouth of the Huron River.Walleye continue to frequent this area due to large quantity’s of bait.Pier walls continue to produce in the early morning late afternoon.
Locations elsewhere are Sawmill Creek to the Boulder Shores area, fishing breaklines and the small humps that are found here.Cranberry Creek and east to Orchard park at night has been awsome, pulling stickbaits behind inline boards in aslittle as8 FOW.Crawlerharness’s are starting to produce, and will continue to get better.
Perch remain in good numbers with all the following locations producing fish…
Northwest of red channel buoy.
Northeast of green channel buoy..both in 30 fow.
Old Womans Creek in 22 to 28 fow. Perch fishing was terrible after the blow, but the water has cleared up.
BAIT AVAILIABILTY POOR FULL MOON AND WINDY CONDITIONS HAVE PREVENTED GOOD CATCHES OF BAIT.

Walleye
Night bite really getting better. Pier fishing the cast 3 nights was very good with a lot of nice fish caught. Best baits were storm swim jig in shad pattern followed by Reef Runner Ripstick and Rapala Husky Jerk in blue silver patterns.
Cranberry Creek to Old Womans Creek. Trolling stickbait behind inline boards in water depth of 6 to 9 feet. Jig N Minnows are still very productive.

Perch
Awesome perch fishing this week in all areas with big fish being caught NW of red channel buoy 29 feet of water. NE of green channel buoy 29 feet of water. North of water tower on East side of River.
Limits are coming in and fish cleaning is available at Huron Bait on the river.

White bass and catfish are good to very good off pier.

Bait availability is excellent. This week should continue to produce good fishing.

Original post blogged on Fish Huron Ohio.
